Martha Sims Obituary
Celebrating Her Spirit
Martha Sims was the only child born to Gerturde Hillman and Fred Yates on January 31, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Martha departed this life on May 21, joining God and the loved ones who preceded her.
Martha grew up in the Woodlawn area, where she attended school and graduated from high school. She later met Roy Sims and the couple married in 1948. Their union was blessed with nine children. Martha enjoyed working in the home and raising her nine children. She was an excellent cook and loved to listen to her extensive music collection. Although she loved jazz, Otis Redding's "Setting On the Dock of the Bay," was one of her favorite songs. Martha also loved God and was a member of Quinn Chapel for many years until her failing health prevented her from attending.
After 47 years of marriage, God called her husband Roy home in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude and daughters Geneva and Patricia Sims. Her loving spirit will always be remembered and cherished by her children Brenda and Carol Sims, Cheryl Fairbanks, Angela Sims, Lenora Sims, Robert (Angie) Sims and Allen Sims. She will also be greatly missed by a host of family and friends.
