Gwendolyn Ruffin Obituary

Celebrating Her Spirit
Gwendolyn (Sutton) Ruffin, was born on June 20, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gwen, who will always be remembered for her joyous spirit, departed this life to be with The Lord on August 9, 2013.
She grew up in Cincinnati and attended Cincinnati Public Schools. Following her high school graduation, she began her journey in life and married Johnny Ruffin on December 20, 1963. In 1961 she started her professional career at Veteran's Hospital , where she loyally worked in food services for 32 years until she retired in 1993.
Gwen thoroughly enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, meeting friends and feeding whoever walked into her kitchen. Her giving heart gave others hope.
She became a member of Bethel Baptist church in 1968, where she was a loving, faithful and devoted member. While serving Bethel, under the leadership of Rev. Wayne Davis, she graciously and honorably volunteered for several programs and committees. She truly loved her Bethel Baptist Church family.
Gwen will forever be remembered by her devoted brother Alvin Bowen; aunt, Bydie Dudley; treasured nephew, William (Gretchen) Bowen Sr.; niece, Jennifer (Irish) Godbold; cherished cousin, Charlene Mayo; dearest friend, Ivory Bowen and caring in-laws and countless other friends and family, all of whom were blessed to have known her.
She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her faith and trade-mark sense of humor all the way to the end. It is hard to let her go...but God has called his angel home to hold his hand.
