Beulah Mae Raglin-Marcus
Beulah was born on March 22, 1924 in Cleves, Ohio to Arlena and Jack Raglin. She departed this life to be with The Lord on May 19, 2019.
Beulah (known as "Lady, Aunt Beulah, Granny B") spent the first few years of her life in Cleves before moving to Addyston Ohio. Beulah attended Addyston Elementary and graduated from Taylor High School in 1942 with honors in History.
Marrying her childhood sweetheart Samuel on May 25, 1946 in Trenton, New Jersey, the two enjoyed 67 years together. To this union was born Mary Ann, Sharon Arlene, Samuel Dean, and Dwight Anthony.
As an Army wife for 22 ½ years, Beulah traveled with her husband to North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky and two tours to Germany.
Following Samuel's retirement from the U.S. Army, Beulah was employed as a sales clerk at the downtown Lazarus Department Store (formerly Shillito's and Macy's), from which she retired in 1986.
Even though no longer an Army wife, Beulah still enjoyed the adventures of traveling. Her kitchen wall was decorated with numerous plates commemorating her travels to: New Jersey; New York City; Niagara Falls; Canada; Los Angeles; Dallas; Las Vegas; New Orleans; Virginia Beach; Washington D. C.; Atlantic City; Miami; cruises to the islands, and a trip with The Golden Girls to the Orpah Winfrey Show!
Family and friends often enjoyed her baking, especially during the holidays: pound cakes, Lane cakes, cookies, bourbon balls and cobblers.
"Generosity" could have been Beulah's middle name. You could always expect a gift at Christmas time or a card with "a little something, something" in it.
Sister Marcus loved the Lord and especially loved First Missionary Baptist Church of Addyston, Ohio, where she was a life-long member. She served as President of the Usher Board, Church Clerk. She was a force to be reckoned with in the kitchen at First Missionary, serving as hospitality chair for years.
When her work at the church ended, Beulah continued her worship by praising the Lord in song. Even at the age of 95, you could hear her singing, "Jesus Loves Me" and "O How I Love Jesus".As an active member of the community, Beulah remains a member and Past Matron of the St. John Chapter 25 Eastern Star. She was Mother Advisory of Bethune Wright Assembly #49 Girls Assembly; Grand Associate Youth Director of Amaranth Grand Chapter; Past Most Ancient Matron of Prince White Cord #1 Heroines of Jericho; and Past Loyal Lady Ruler of Dove Assembly #34 Order of the Golden Circle, Past Princess Captain of Cyrene Guild #1 Heroines of Templar Crusades. It must be noted that Sam and Beulah were the First Patron and Matron couple of St. John Chapter 25 Eastern Star. Beulah, along with her husband Sam, she was also active with AMVETS Post #16 in Addyston, Ohio
