Barbara Ann Miller
August 13, 1940 - May 19, 2015
Celebrating Her Spirit. . . Ms. Barbara Ann De’Jaris Miller was born in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Reverend Robert A. Miller Sr. and Clarice T. (Myers) Miller on August 13th, 1940. Of her eight siblings, five preceded her in death; Dorothy A. Goldsmith, Robert A. Miller Jr. (Geri), Roberta A. Bruton (Leon), Charles B. Miller, and Rosetta N. Washington (Glenn). Growing up in South Carolina, Barbara and her siblings moved often and lived in several cities as children. This may have been a contributing factor that led her to become the stable driving force at the center of her family. Although she never had children of her own, Barbara was very active in raising generations of nieces and nephews. Her nurturing spirit would extend not just to her family, but as caregiver to countless friends and others in her community. She enjoyed her work and relationships with the post office and as a nurse. It was her love for time spent with family and friends that a brought a smile to her face. In Toledo, she was a part of the Golden Girls Club which included sister Rose, and friends Dorothy, Betty and Vergie; everyone knew of her tremendous love of bowling, anything arts and crafts and settling in with nieces and nephews to watch a good kids movie. Thanksgiving marked her favorite time to challenge family to an annual game of Tripoly—and she usually won the pot!! She leaves to mourn her passing brothers William H. (Sandra) Miller and Larry Miller, special friend John L Barber and a host of cherished family and friends.
