Celebrating Her Spirit . . .
Antoinette "Tonie" Denise Lavender, 50, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Daniel and Lovinia Mae (Dennis) Lavender Jr. She departed this life in the comfort of her home on Sept. 1, 2016.
Tonie grew up in Cincinnati and attended Cincinnati Public Schools, graduating from Woodward High School in 1984. After graduation, she went to work for a number of local companies. Although she suffered from a heart defect from birth, Tonie never let her condition slow her down.
She is a former member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Avondale. She enjoyed getting together with family and friends to play cards and watch movies. Antoinette was an avid reader who loved to collect sci-fi , mysteries, thrillers and romance novels. She was thrilled when she could download and store books on her new Kindle.
Antoinette never had children, but she nurtured and helped raise children in her family and those of friends with a kind, but firm hand. Her house served as the "central" drop-off for babysitting. In 2011, Tonie met William "Jay'' Camper. The couple, who enjoyed a five-year relationship , was making plans to marry. Tonie was also a dedicated and loving friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Lovinia Lavender Sr. and her paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Lois Lavender and one uncle, Edward Lavender.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her fiancé' William Camper; her brothers, Daniel Lavender Jr., Michael (Pam) Lavender and sisters, Anitra (Jermaine) Carter, Ieasyah Johnson and Trenia White; her maternal grandmother, Anne Mae Porter; her aunts, Pat, Deborah Pierson, Jeanette Garrett, Mary Carter, Janet Mathis; uncles, Clifton Pierson, Tyrone Pierson and James Russell. She will also be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
