Learline Cardwell, affectionately called "Granny Green," by loved ones, was born on November 4, 1933 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the union of Dobb and Ida Mae Revels. On June 8, 2018, during the beauty and stillness of the early dawn, she departed this life and went home with Jesus.
Learline, Ida Mae's only daughter, grew up in a loving house-hold with three brothers: James, Dobbie and General. In 1938, The Revels Family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Cincinnati Public Schools and after high school, she enrolled in Nursing School. Being the only nurse in the family, Learline became the "on duty" nurse of any family member during their hospital stay.
She accepted Christ at a very early age and joined the Metropolitan CME Church in Walnut Hills and later moved to Walnut Hills Baptist Church. Learline ultimately moved her membership to Corinthian Baptist Church, where she was active in many ministries.
Learline was the Founder of the Corinthian Baptist Church’s Welcome Team. She spearheaded the Pastor and Associate Minister’s Breakfast; worked as a faithful member of the Senior Usher Board; the Share Program; Heart-2-Heart, the Jericho Fitness Walk, Culinary Ministry, Women’s Retreat, 55+, Nurse’s Guild and the Intercessory Prayer ministries. She also enjoyed Sunday School and VBS. She was honored as CBC’s Senior of the Month in May 2000.
She was also celebrated as being a Charter Member of Corinthian (50 years or more) before her illness made it difficult for her to attend.
She retired from Jewish Hospital after working for more than 30 years. She was previously employed at Longview State Hospital and The Beau Brummell Tie Company in Cincinnati.
Learline leaves to celebrate her life her loving children: Min. Robbin (Sidney) Boozer, Crystal Cruse and Michael A. Green, Joan Cardwell Aridge, Kathleen Cardwell Gordon, Eloise Fischer, Ronald Robinson, Arnetta Robinson; her nephews, Ralph “Sonny” (Joyce) Revels and Pastor C. Douglas (Marie) Revels. Learline also leaves over 35+ grandchildren a host of greats, great-greats and great-great-greats. She was also blessed with loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
